About VSSA
The oldest association of academic disciplines in Virginia, the VSSA
is an interdisciplinary organization, the members of which
principally include scholars of anthropology, business, economics,
education, geography, history, political science, psychology, and
sociology.
Our Missions
Bringing together all groups related to the social science
disciplines: faculty from K-12 as well as all institutions of higher
education in Virginia; undergraduates; graduate students; and
professionals who apply the social sciences. We envision three
main interrelated missions regarding teaching, research, and
outreach: (1) promoting multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary work
in the social sciences; (2) offering students, including
undergraduates, opportunities for professional development in
presenting their scholarship; and (3) bringing together teachers at
all levels of education in Virginia.
