The VSSA makes available two publications, a journal and a newsletter.

The Virginia Social Science Journal (ISSN 0507-1305) is a refereed journal published by the Virginia Social Science Association. Publication is not confined to Virginia-related research; the Journal is interested in all manuscripts of interest and concern to social scientists. The Journal routinely publishes papers in the areas of anthropology, business, economics, education, geography, history, political science, psychology, and sociology. VSSJ is indexed in Public Affairs Information Service (PAIS), Sociological Abstracts (SA), and Social Planning/Policy & Development Abstracts (SOPODA).
Manuscripts should be submitted in triplicate and be no longer than 20 double-spaced, typewritten pages. An abstract of no more than 125 words must accompany the manuscript. Figures such as graphs, drawings, and diagrams should be professional in appearance and submitted in camera-ready form. Authors of manuscripts accepted for publication are to supply final copies of their work on electronic media in IBM PC-compatible format (WordPerfect document or text file preferred).
The VSSJ is published annually in the Winter with a publication date in February. The deadline for submissions is October 1. Address communications to:
